Kaufman County Traffic Court Records
Kaufman County traffic cases are split among Justice of the Peace Precincts 1 through 4 and municipal courts. The court printed on the citation controls. A city police ticket may be municipal, while a sheriff, constable, trooper, or other agency citation may route to a JP. Agency name alone is not enough because JP4 also lists some city police citations.
Each lower court keeps its own case record. The county Court Search link is not a universal city-ticket database. A traffic docket can show the citation number, plea, setting, payment status, disposition, processing date, and warrant activity. It remains a court record, separate from a state driving record.
Kaufman County JP Routing
The JP directory identifies four precinct offices. JP1 and JP4 are on the US 175 campus in Kaufman, JP2 is at the Forney Sub Courthouse, and JP3 is at the Terrell Sub Courthouse. These counters are not interchangeable. The correct precinct and number suffix help prevent a payment or record request from reaching the wrong court.

Use its published rules only for a ticket assigned to that precinct.
Looking Up a Traffic Ticket
Begin with the citation number and court line. Kaufman County JPs publish precinct payment routes, while Forney, Terrell, Kaufman, Mabank, and Crandall run separate municipal channels. The county online-payments page routes JP payments, but payment access is not a full docket search. Use the clerk's phone or counter when the entry has not posted.
- Read the court name, precinct, citation number, and response date.
- Use the official court or county-linked portal for that venue.
- Check the suffix rule: JP1 uses 1, JP3 uses 3, and JP4 uses 4.
- Call or visit the clerk if a new ticket has not posted.
- Confirm the setting, plea state, and next required act.
Kaufman County Citation Search Limits
No verified county-wide traffic search-field table was captured. JP3's Tyler payment route was blocked during research, and Certified Payments was documented as payment access, not as a full docket database. Never invent party-name fields or copy fields from eFileTexas into a JP portal.
A new citation may take time to post. JP3 warns about next-business-day payment posting and use of suffix 3. A failed search calls for a clerk check, not a conclusion that the ticket vanished. Keep the citation and any payment confirmation until the docket reflects the event.

JP4's suffix and agency list are local facts that should be checked before payment.
How to Find Your Traffic Court Date
The citation supplies the first response or appearance date. The assigned court can confirm whether it is an arraignment, trial, compliance setting, or another event. A reset should appear as a later setting, but portal screens can lag. Call before travel when the web record conflicts with a written notice.
| Citation Number | Use the printed number and suffix, such as citation-number-3 for JP3. |
|---|---|
| Court | Names the municipal or JP custodian. |
| Date & Time | Shows the response, appearance, or trial setting. |
| Place | Identifies the city court or precinct office. |
| Status | May show pending, paid, disposed, reset, or warrant activity. |
Forney and Terrell Traffic Courts
Forney and Terrell each have two nearby systems. Forney Municipal Court of Record No. 1 is separate from Kaufman County JP2. Terrell Municipal Court is separate from JP3. Read the court name, not just the city in the address. The broader Forney docket search explains the city route.

A Forney municipal citation stays with the city court unless the paper names JP2.
Pay or Contest a Ticket
Payment and contest are different court actions. Kaufman County JP pages warn that an online payment can act as a no-contest plea and jury waiver. Anyone seeking a trial, deferred disposition, driver-safety option, or other approved route should contact the assigned clerk before paying. City rules differ, and some violations require an appearance or paperwork.
| Paying the Ticket | Contesting the Ticket |
|---|---|
| A plea may be entered and the court records the result. | A not-guilty plea leads to a trial or hearing setting. |
| Act by the citation's response deadline. | File the plea by the court's stated deadline. |
| Use only approved online, phone, mail, drop, or counter routes. | Contact the assigned court for its written or in-person method. |
Missed setting: A missed date can lead to added court action or a warrant. Contact the assigned clerk at once and do not assume an online payment alone clears every event.
Kaufman County Payment Channels
County JPs link to Certified Payments, while city courts publish their own methods. Forney lists online, phone, mail, counter, and night-drop options. Mabank links to Municipal Online Services, but the captured interface showed sign-in and service tiles rather than a public docket field list. Crandall's August 2026 notice says it does not take phone payments.

Traffic Court Record vs Driving Record
Two custodians keep two distinct files. The municipal or JP clerk holds the court case record. The Texas Department of Public Safety holds the state driving record. Use the court file to confirm the citation, date, plea, payment, and disposition. Direct state-record questions to DPS.
| Court Traffic Record | Driver Record | |
|---|---|---|
| Kept By | Assigned JP or municipal clerk | Texas Department of Public Safety |
| Shows | Citation, setting, plea, disposition, and payment state | State driving-history entries |
| How to Get It | Court portal, phone, counter, or record request | DPS record-request channel |
Kaufman County Municipal Differences
Municipal procedures are city-specific. Forney says some violations cannot be paid online and may need an appearance or clerk paperwork. Terrell says deferred disposition and driver safety cannot be bought through its payment portal. Kaufman Municipal Court is separate from county offices on the same city's court map. Mabank's service portal does not prove that full docket documents are public online.
Crandall presents a further split. Its city court handles Class C matters, yet JP4 lists Crandall Police Department citations. The decisive details are the court name, address, case number, and payment instructions. If they conflict, ask both clerks to route the number before sending funds.

Those options do not apply to a Kaufman County JP2 citation.
Kaufman County Traffic Copies and Fees
Copy charges depend on the court that owns the case. JP2 publishes a request form with separate plain and certified choices. It asks for the cause or docket number, case style, detailed item list, delivery choice, and requester contact details. Email copies carry no copy charge, but certified copies cannot be emailed.
| Item | Fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| JP2 plain copy | $1 first page; $0.25 more pages | Email copy has no copy charge |
| JP2 certified copy | $2 first page; $0.25 more pages | Not available by email |
| County Clerk plain copy | $1 per page | Only if that clerk owns the record |
Confirm Kaufman County Ticket Status
After any payment, plea, reset, or request, confirm that the clerk posted the event. A vendor receipt may show submission but not final docket action. Ask what date the court uses, whether a setting remains active, and whether another form is due. This step is vital when a deadline is close.

Verify every status with the court whose name appears on the citation.
For a copy, ask for the traffic docket or named filing rather than a vague account screen. State whether a certified copy is needed. The clerk can then quote the correct fee and delivery method.
